Microsoft has made available for download a list with the questions and the answers for the most common issues that webmasters, developers and website administrators have about Bing. In all fairness, the Redmond company already offered a list with frequently asked questions on the Bing Toolbox support center. However, the new resource delivered by the Redmond company is available as a standalone download which can also be leveraged in offline scenarios.
“Got questions about the API, SourceTypes, working with PHP? The answers to these and other Bing developer “frequently asked questions” now are available in a single document: Download the Bing Developer FAQs now (512 KB .pdf). These are the same FAQs that have always been available in the Bing Toolbox support center. We just wanted to provide the FAQs in a single, indexed document as a convenient alternative to searching online,” revealed a member of the Bing team.
The Bing Developer FAQs PDF is a 12 page long document which centralizes the topics already featured on the Bing Toolbox support center. Customers will be able to get answers for a variety of questions related to Microsoft’s search decision engine from “How do I deal with a proxy server blocking my search?” to “What’s new in API 2.0?” and “What is Project Silk Road all about?” Developers that have come across issues regarding the relationship between the web content they are building and Bing should consider the FAQ as a great place to start on the way to getting their questions answered.
“Project Silk Road encompasses a broad range of tools and services that Microsoft offers online publishers and developers to help you generate traffic, increase engagement on your sites, drive insight, and boost productivity and agility. The Bing API Version 2.0 is a fundamental part of Project Silk Road. With the new APIs, you can build applications without restrictions around presentation,” reads Microsoft’s answer to the “What is Project Silk Road all about?” question.
